Shulamit (Shula) Ilan was born in Israel and is a native Hebrew speaker. She has a B.ED degree in ESL teaching from Seminar Hakibbutsim in Tel Aviv.

She worked as an English teacher and later, spent 14 years teaching in the Ulpan.

For the past 10 years, Shula has worked as a tutor teaching "Hebrew in Israel" for foreign Ambassadors and Diplomats along with teaching Hebrew at AMHSI.
