General Studies Teachers
Lewis is from Teaneck, NJ, and together with his family made aliyah in 2021. He holds a Master of Arts in Teaching of Secondary English from the City College of New York, and he started his career as a NYC Teaching Fellow. Lew taught grades six through twelve in three high-need schools in Harlem and Washington Heights during a nineteen-year career in the New York City public school system. In that time, he trained in conflict resolution and conducted over a hundred successful mediation sessions with students. He also served as school photographer, yearbook designer, and Chapter Leader for his teacher’s union. After an increase in attacks on Jewish institutions in the United States, Lew founded his synagogue’s first security team with the Community Security Service and led it for four years as Team Manager until coming to Israel.
