I made it to Hod Hasharon, Israel.
Posted by Ally Chesal on 09.16.20I made it to Hod Hasharon, Israel. Here I am in my Muss dorm writing about what's gonna be of my next 4 months here. In order to make it through this program, I must stay open minded, positive, patient, and show cooperation. The program's schedule is up in the air, but no matter what comes my way, I must go with the flow.Read MoreGoals, -

(I am) becoming a stronger, more independent person.
Posted by Maya Malka on 09.16.20Quarantine has been strange since we could only be with our capsule while seeing the other capsules in our building through the plastic sheets or being 6 feet apart from other capsules outside. Plastic sheets and all, we still managed to play games with the other capsules using gloves and somewhat connect and communicate with the kids in the other capsules. I can’t wait to actually see and meet everyone in person, especially those who I didn’t get to meet during quarantine.Read MoreGoals, -

We arrived in shock, still not knowing what it would be like...
Posted by Michael Ben-Dayan on 09.16.20As I sit here and write this blog I think to myself how blessed I am to not just be in this amazing country with such great history, but to also be taking part in such a fine opportunity.Read MoreGoals, -

Anticipation. I would say that’s a pretty good word to describe how I have felt for the past two and a half weeks.
Posted by Samuel Courtney on 09.16.20One of my goals on this experience is to make lifelong friends, and that opportunity is finally arriving. In addition to meeting new people, I am very excited to go on all our trips and see and connect with Israel. I truly love Israel, so I am exhilarated at the fact that we are going to be making trips all around the country. Sadly though, as you may have heard, Israel is going on lockdown for three weeks starting Friday, so my anticipation for the coming trips is going to have to be extended. All in all, I know this trip is going to be amazing, and although it has technically started already, I am thrilled that the true beginning is finally here. Cheers, Sammy Courtney.Read MoreGoals, -

My goal is to brave the unknown, and come out a better man for it.
Posted by Noam Benartzy on 09.16.20To assign myself a goal would be to limit an ever-expanding horizon. I can say that I want to study harder, or discover myself, perhaps even get perfect marks on my report card, but such an action would limit the boundless opportunities I have to make an Impact on my future and the futures of everyone I know. My goal is to brave the unknown, and come out a better man for it.Read MoreGoals, -

My incredible madrichah has made this quarantine as enjoyable as possible.
Posted by Meital Perlin on 09.14.20However, here I love how everyone has at least something in common; being Jewish, of course. It is so special to be around other kids who chose to be here as well. I cannot wait to get to know all these kids and hear what drew them here. The quarantine has given me much time to think of what I want out of this adventure.Read MoreGoals, -

My first week on campus has been quite an experience!
Posted by Talia Hartman on 09.14.20My first week on campus has been quite an experience! I have never been stuck in a quarantine with people I don't know. Due to these circumstances, I have created strong bonds with my roommates I would not have had without this quarantine.Read More -

Through the Israel studies course I have already learned things about Israel and Judaism that I never would’ve known if I hadn’t come on this program.
Posted by Mollie Wittenberg on 09.14.20Having just come to Alexander Muss High School in Israel I have lots of goals, this is especially because quarantine has given me time to think and build up my excitement, not to mention it is my first time in Israel.Read More -

Soon I will be going to Israel with AMHSI.
Posted by Mollie Wittenberg on 09.13.20When I heard about AMHSI through my mom I knew it was something I had to be a part of. It’s clear that the program is an amazing experience and I’m so lucky to get to join them. I’m also especially thrilled to be a part of the Impact Fellowship as I know this way I can share my experiences with others and get more kids to hear about this extraordinary opportunity.Read MorePre-trip expectations, -

Israel is one of my favorite places in the world.
Posted by Daniella Ohayon on 09.13.20Israel is one of my favorite places in the world. Every year I go to see my family and every year I can't wait to go back. I'm especially excited for this trip because I have never gone alone or for more than a few weeks at a time to Israel and this time I would be doing both of those at Alexander Muss High School in Israel.Read MorePre-trip expectations, -

So, I'm hoping for a marvelous adventure.
Posted by Ally Chesal on 09.13.20Honestly, I'm nervous to embark on this journey just as this over-thinker girl who can imagine all the little things that can go wrong. Although I am trying so hard to just not have any worries or bad expectations. I think this can be life changing if I go with my head up high and step with my right foot first. My nervousness is also a part of this gigantic excitement and happiness to do what I'm doing. So, I'm hoping for a marvelous adventure.Read MorePre-trip expectations, -

What I’m feeling is more of a mix of excitement, nervousness, eagerness, and a slight fear.
Posted by Samuel Courtney on 09.13.20Also, as you know, I’m an impact fellow, so I have high expectations from the administration: I need to achieve good grades, be an astute role model, and be a leader. I’m not stressed about reaching those expectations because I know I will surpass them, but I want to demonstrate to the administration that I am capable and worthy of this tremendous honor. Overall, I’m very excited, a bit nervous, and more than ready to be in Israel, quarantining in the AMHSI campus.Read MorePre-trip expectations, -

I am looking forward to learn a lot more about Israel’s history.
Posted by Eden Haik on 09.13.20I chose to apply for the fellowship because I feel like in school in America don’t really emphasize their education about Israel. Also because I believe that traveling around Israel and exchanging knowledge with my Jewish peers and educators will not only be a fun experience but also a great opportunity to learn more about my Jewish history.Read MorePre-trip expectations, -

I'm super excited to meet so many new people from different backgrounds and cultures!
Posted by Noam Benartzy on 09.13.20Now, HSI is nothing to scoff at. I'm very grateful to have even been considered for the Impact Fellowship program, much less accepted into it. I'll be honest, it's a pretty scary thought. Being away from not only home, but everyone I know for 4 months is kind of crazy to me. I know that HSI is going to be a life-changing experience for me. At least, that's what the upperclassmen told me!Read MorePre-trip expectations, -

I have always been driven to learn more about my place in the global Jewish community.
Posted by Leah Brodkey on 09.13.20Who I am: First off, I would like to introduce myself. Hi! My name is Leah and I will be traveling to Israel as an AMHSI/JNF Fellow for the 2020 fall semester. I will be doing so as a junior (Go Class of ’22!) and a Jewish girl excited to further her identity.Read MorePre-trip expectations, -

I am excited to go on an adventure and meet new people.
Posted by Max Youssefnia on 09.13.20I also want to see all of the beautiful destinations across Israel. Recently I have been falling in love with nature and Israel has some of the best nature in the world. I am mostly just excited to be in a new environment with new people, new food, a new language, new everything.Read MorePre-trip expectations, -

I am SO excited to be able to go to Israel with Alexander Muss High School in Israel/Jewish National Fund.
Posted by Rina Isaac on 09.13.20With COVID and staying healthy on my mind, I am nervous to travel and face all of the outside exposure. I am also nervous to face a completely new experience. Even though we have a schedule, nothing is set in stone and we will have to face everything day by day. I will also have to make friends that I can call my “family” and that can support me with all of these concerns and facing new experiences.Read MorePre-trip expectations, -

I know this experience is going to be magical...
Posted by Madeline Lemchen on 09.13.20I know this experience is going to be magical and I hope to make long lasting friendships and memories that will stay with me forever. My biggest goal for this program is to become friends with everyone and try something new every day. I'm nervous for some of the hikes and how we will do during this pandemic, but I know the positive experience will out way the nerves.Read MorePre-trip expectations, -

What really stood out to me was hearing about how powerful it is to learn about Jewish history right where it happened.
Posted by Sydney Somers on 09.13.20As a fellow, you have pre/during/post program responsibilities. An example of a pre-trip responsibility is participating in Plant Your Way To Israel, a great fundraising opportunity where half of the money you raise goes to JNF and the other half gets set aside for your trip. When in Israel, you get to practice your writing skills by writing a weekly blog and participate in a special leadership class once a week.Read MorePre-trip expectations, -

I am so excited to leave for Israel in less than a week!
Posted by Talia Hartman on 09.13.20I decided to go to Israel because I want to explore and learn all about the holy land. I hope to come out of this experience having knowledge on everything in Israel. Specifically, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I want to come home and have the knowledge to educate other people from my experience.Read MorePre-trip expectations,
