Michael Shterenshis, Chemistry, Biology & History

Chemistry, Biology and History Teacher

Originally from the former-USSR, Dr. Michael Shterenshis made aliyah from Philadelphia, PA in 1993. Michael graduated with Honors from Tashkent State Medical School with a MD degree and specialization in teaching Biology and Chemistry to medical students. He worked in this capacity for 6 years and then continued his education through various courses at the University of Pennsylvania and West Jersey Health System, (WJHS) ending with a doctorate scholarship at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (History of Sciences and Medicine).

Michael joined the Alexander Muss School in 2000 and has taught all levels of Biology (including Microbiology and Ecology) and Chemistry (including Biochemistry) up to the AP level. He is also responsible for biology labs, especially animal dissections. Due to his second education as a historian he also teaches various historical subjects.

Before joining the school, Michael lectured at the Midreshet Yerushalaim University and worked as a tutor for schoolchildren of the Uzbekistan Embassy. He published several books on medicine and Jewish history.

Michael is married and has two children.
